New Short Course Class

Hi All,

With the number of Short Course Vehicles we have in the club we are going to try a new class on Electric Days.

The Short Course class will have the following  rules:-

  • Commercially Available 2 Wheel Drive Electric Kits
  • Motor Limit of nothing below 10 turn brushed or 10 turn brushless motor
  • Battery voltage to not exceed 8.4volts
  • Standard Factory Fitted Style Tyres e.g. Landrover Style – See HERE for more details
  • No Wings or fins (included mounted in versions)

It will be run like this for a few meets and see how things go.

Racing on Bank Holiday Monday 27th August

Hi All,

We have decided to do the same as we do every bank holiday and moving the racing from Sunday to Monday.

So please note the change of date and tell all your friends as all racing is open to people of all ages and abilities. Also our events are open to members of all clubs so please do come for some fun racing and a great day out.

And do not forget we do also offer hot and cold drinks and various food care of the Burger van that is there every week.

SWORDS Round 5 Practice and Racing

As most of you now know this weekend (11th & 12th August) is SWORDS here at Plymouth.

We are doing a Saturday Practice from 12.00 till 4.00 on the Saturday for the standard £5.00 per person. You are also able to pre-book ready for Sunday if you should wish to make life easier for the organisers on Sunday.

Sunday the gates open at 8.00 and booking in closes at 10.00 Racing is £10.00 a person. There will also be hot and cold food and drink on offer in the burger van.

Classes being run are:- 1/8 Rally Cross Nitro Buggy, 1/8 Rally Cross Electric Buggy & Truggy

Maintenance Weekend 4th & 5th August Ready for SWORDS

Hi All,

Just a quick update for those of you that do not already know we are having a maintenance weekend at the track this weekend. We could do with as many people as possible helping out.

We have plenty to do including new jumps, new surfaces, different obstacles.

Racing on Sunday 3rd June is moved to Monday 4th June

Racing on Sunday 3rd June is moved to Monday 4th July

This is due to the bank holiday and the number of people wanting to normally do the family thing on Sunday and run on Monday, also there are other clubs open which means we can race at another track on the Sunday and again at ours on Monday – and for those of you that do not know the Plymouth Half Marathon is on Sunday closing a lot of the roads round Plymouth Resulting in getting to the track harder than normal.

Endurance 2012

A big Thank You to everyone that turned up and made the event the success it was.

It was good to see teams from Torquay and Newquay attend as well as the members putting together teams.

The end Results were:-

1st – Torbay Tearaways – 259 Laps
2nd – Newquay Nutters – 226 Laps
3rd – Chaos Theory – 225 Laps
4th – JJT Sports – 195 Laps
5th – We’Ve Got Hot Bodies – 193 Laps
6th – Team K.I.S.S – 147 Laps
7th – Team Bell – 122 Laps

Wednesday Night Practice for the Summer Period

We are starting from Wednesday 18th April for the next few months a 2 hour practice period where you can turn up with anything and use the track. The gates will open about 5.30 for practice and go to 8.00ish.

The fee will be £2.00 flat rate for all.

There will be “practice races” if required otherwise just open track time.

Endurance Race 2012

As most of you now know the Plymouth Endurance race is back again for a 4th year now, and we are trying to make it bigger and better.

Nitro Championship & Trophy Race – 9th April

Trophy DayWith SWORDS running on a day we would normally have our Nitro Championship in 2 weeks we are moving our racing to the Bank Holiday Monday (9th April).

And to make this event even more interesting we are not only doing for points in our Championship day we are also doing it as a Trophy day – we have a small collection of trophies that will be perfect for this event so if you fancy trying to win a trophy please come along and if there is enough interest we will run a proper 2wd & 4wd electric class too or just a 1/10th electric class.

New Track Changes

New Astro JumpWell after lots of meetings and some hard work we have started to implement some track changes and redesigns after running the same track for over 5 years now. These changes include removing some jumps, moving some jump, adding astro turf and volcano corners.

The track has more bits planned to be done in the next few months so if you have any further ideas please do inform one of the committee members.
