Friday Electric Racing
Well the Electric Championship has 1 event left to be raced and there is still a fair amount to race for.
The only thing that is going to have to change for the last race of the season is the time the racing starts, due to the nights getting darker sooner we are going to have to get things underway by about 6.45 as the track is getting dark about 8.30. Saying that though as long as there are no MAJOR problems we still have plenty of time to run the 3 qualifiers and the finals in both classes.
Final note. As most of you will know we have been running the Electric Championship for 2 reasons, first is it is something different to do so we can cater for more racers. The second and in some ways the more important reason for running the Electric Championship was to help the BRCA get the Electric SWORDS up and running again, unfortunately we are the only RC Car Club in the South West that has shown any interest in getting this going again. Watch this space for more information on it.
Track Work and Changes

View of Left Side of the Track from the Rostrum
Over the weekend of 8th and 9th August we carried out a major weekend of maintenance improving and tiding up the track. The whole thing started with the idea of moving the rostrum, the end result was moving the Rostrum back about 6 feet and raising it around another 9 inches. This has given a lot clearer view of the track and minimize the chance of drivers blocking other driver’s view by leaning forward. The other big thing that has been done to improve the rostrum is a decent roof has been put on it, this is so in the sun the Drivers are kept cool and in the winter the Drivers are keep dry.
Also the main straight has be widen allowing for higher speeds and a better run up to the backed corner before

the triple jump. The other benefit of widening the main straight means the edging to the Pitlane Entrance has been moved out of the run line that most the Rallycross drivers take.
By the end of Sunday the track was open for tests and trial runs to see what everyone thinks and the end result was a thumbs up from the 1/10th Nitro and Electic Buggies and Stadiums, Rally Cross guys flew round the track with out any problems, Truggy drivers (including the new ones) Bounced around leaped as high as they could. As for the 1/5th that tested the track, well he well and truely tested it by bouncing off the edge of all the new sections of the track, and yes the track did survive.
TYCD 2009
Think You Can Drive 2009 ended up to be a great event and I am sure fun was had by all. We did have the odd shower, or maybe more during the night from what I hear. There was a load of us that camped and some a bit better at it than others – I must admit I was jealous of Dan and Karen’s BBQ food, from what I hear it was BBQ spare ribs from the local Chinese!! Tony was kind enough to let the rest of us use his gas BBQ along with some others using disposable BBQs before we all sat round Phil’s Hot Pot.

On the Sunday there was lots to see when everyone was not racing, and for the ladies the Fire Brigade was right next to us. There was some close racing going on in each of the classes.
It was good to see some faces from other clubs and some old faces, so to see some of the action and the fun have a look at our gallery TYCD 2009.
The Results were as follows:-
1/10th Class – 1st Lee – 2nd Dan – 3rd Jodi
1/8th Class – 1st Dan – 2nd Dave – 3rd Karen
1/5th Class – 1st Shaun – 2nd Grimbo – 3rd Jonathan
Truggy Class – 1st Tony – 2nd Kieran – 3rd Phil
And for some something different we did Best of the Best, the top 2 out of each class in together. The results was:-
1st Dan(1/8th) – 2nd Grimbo(1/5th) – 3rd Dave(1/8th)
TYCD 2009

A quick update for all of those that wish to attend the TYCD 2009 event.
First and fore most, I have found out the event is helping to raise money for Cornwall Air Ambulance so this is another great event raising money for a good cause.
The second thing is that we are required to be on site by 9.00am on the Sunday, so anyone running late or know they can not make it till a little later please please please let me have your car number plate so I can let the people on the gate know so you do not get charged at the gate and also at the track.
The organisers have sorted out the trophies for the first places in each class, we as a club with sort out a little something for second and third.
Booking in will close at 10.00 then we go straight into drivers meeting so Qualifiers will start about 10.30
I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Friday Night Electric Racing

The drivers showing off their great cars they are about to race at the First Proper Electric Friday
Well we have had our first very successful Friday Night Electric Race with 3 people booked in in the 18th class and an impressive 5 people in the Brushed Class.
What was even better to see was Lisa showing her face racing and showing most the guys how it should be done.
There was some great classic cars attending, these being a Tamiya Bush Devil making a return showing it still had it, a Schumacher Bosscat being driven by our only lady driver, a Team Associated B3 driven by our new member, a 25 year old Kyosho Salute in Pink driven by the Chairman and last but no means least a good old Tamiya Lunch Box – the jokes that were being made about this car were coming out think and fast (and talking about lunch…. mmmm.. I hungry, ha ha ha).

Friday Night Electric Racing
Hi All,
After a quiet first meeting the second meeting is looking to be a lot more promising. And the most impressive thing is the electric racing is beinging in the female racers that we do not see on the Sundays. Maybe this is the beginning of the women showing the men (or is boys?!?!?!?) how it is done?
The most pospular class looks like it is going to be the brushed class, followed by the 1/18ths, and bringing up the rear is the brushless class.
So remember if you have an electric car (no matter the age of the car as we have some as old as 20 year turning up) please do come along to support thing fun racing over the summer months.
Friday Night Electric Racing
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick update before the first race meeting of the Summer on a Friday Night.
We are running the event very simular to that of Sunday as in 3 qualifiers and a final. As we have only got 2 hours racing time there will only be a short break between qualifiers and finals unlike a Sunday where we have 2 long lunch breaks.
Also the race times are going to be different, the qualifiers are only 5 minutes per class and the finals are 10 minutes (this time will be confirmed with the drivers at the first meeting, might be shorten to 8 minutes).
Other than that it is normal race rules. So all that is left to be said is see you all at the start of something new and great.
Website Goes Mobile Friendly
As time goes by technology gets more advanced and we all like to stay up to date, whether it be a new Radio Controlled Car, Faster Servos, Better Batteries, New Fuel, etc. Well with all this in mind we have made some more improvements to the website.
For most of the regulars to the website and forum you would have seen lots of changes, modernisations, and new looks. Well the lastest change is the main site is now Mobile Friendly so those of you on the go can still keep up to date with your favourite Off Road Radio Controlled Car Club.
This is just another step towards keeping everyone informed, and helping the club to grow in size and have better and more fun racing.
Friday Night Electric Racing
The dates on the Racing Dates page for the Electric Racing are going to stand for the first few races as they do not seem to clash with the Indoor Racing.
It would be good to see lots of the electric members attending (along with hopefuly a few new faces).
If this is successful we will move the 1/18th class from running on Sundays to running on Fridays.
See you then.
